Keeping in mind I’ve never actually done this, here’s some links I found interesting.
Podcast episode w/ someone who has made a tidy sum (1MM+/annum he says) selling private label on Amazon: https://mywifequitherjob.com/will-tjernlund-amazon/. About an hour long, interesting ideas that cut against the grain.
Website with a lot of Amazon tips: https://www.nichepursuits.com/. Article linking to the above podcast: https://www.nichepursuits.com/private-label-products-amazon/.
Tips I found interesting from listening to this kind of stuff:
Buy small amounts from Ali Express to see what sells, then bulk-purchase the winners from AliBaba.
“Stack” items that complement each other. An example from a Smart Passive Income Podcast (can’t remember the number), they started with a luxurious yoga mat, added a yoga block (?), added a…something else. The items complemented each other and people are more likely to buy things from the same company.
Make items that complement existing trends. Drones are popular? Sell drone sparkle spray paint (and a spray backstop, naturally, and a face mask).
Sell many things as an experiment, drop the losers, double-down on the winners, use profits to make more experiments.
If you decide to try this out I for one would be interested in reading about your experience.
