Russia Scandal -- Predictions about its impact on the future of the GOP in 2018
CONSERVATIVE LAWYER WROTE A 6-PART MEMO SHOWING MIKE PENCE HOW TO COMMIT A COUP
His name is John Eastman, and the revelation came out in the new Woodward book, Peril.
If you don’t like Business Insider or Vice, almost all other media outlets were carrying this story two days ago. As they should.
Except right-wing media.
Conservative media pretends that this memo doesn’t exist, and that their side of the aisle did NOT in fact just attempt to overthrow our constitutional democratic republic.
Because they’re planning to try it again. Next time, it might work.
THE KREMLIN’S STRANGE VICTORY
Subheadline: How Putin Exploits American Dysfunction and Fuels American Decline

MAKE AMERICA DEAD AGAIN
In counties where Donald Trump received at least 70 percent of the vote, the virus has killed about 47 out of every 100,000 people since the end of June.
In counties where Donald Trump received less than 32 percent of the vote, the virus has killed about 10 out of every 100,000 people since the end of June.
Just a hunch, but spreading disinformation about life-saving vaccines isn’t a long-term strategy for growing your political base.
Democrats: The sun rises in the east.
Republicans: The sun rises where Trump says it does.
Media: There is debate about where the sun rises.
It’s so frustrating.

TROLL FARMS REACHED 140 MILLION AMERICANS PER MONTH ON FACEBOOK
In the months before the 2020 election.
From the piece:
As of October 2019, around 15,000 Facebook pages with a majority US audience were being run out of Kosovo and Macedonia, known bad actors during the 2016 election.
Collectively, those troll-farm pages—which the report treats as a single page for comparison purposes—reached 140 million US users monthly and 360 million global users weekly.
I found a Tom Nichols interview with Charlie Sykes. It was recorded in August via Zoom.
I’m listening to it on this very quiet Sunday night. Recommended.
I haven’t read Tom’s new book yet but intend to.
A Soviet citizen is buying a car.
He finally saved up enough rubles, went to the agency, and paid for a car.
The agent tells him, “Come back on August 8th, 1983 to pick up your new car.”
“But that’s eight years from now.”
“Yes, isn’t it wonderful? The wait used to be ten years.”
"Okay, fine. August 8th, 1983. Morning or afternoon?"
The agent looks at him. “It’s eight years away. What difference does it make?”
“Well, the plumber is coming that morning.”
Man I’ve been MIA from this thread. Lots of running around, plenty of work, touring, family, and life getting in the way!
A beautiful and sweet girlfriend has also been distracting me. No apologies for that! She’s a keeper.
I’ll have more time in November and will see what I can contribute then.
Today, Senate Republicans unanimously blocked the Voting Rights Bill, introduced by Democrats.
The bill would have
- created a national standard for voter access
- established automatic voter registration and mandatory 15-day early voting period
- provided universal vote-by-mail
- made Election Day a holiday
- lifted various state-level restrictions that limit access to the ballot box
…and many other things.
In this democratic republic, there is only ONE party that believes the US doesn’t need to safeguard its own democratic republic.
That party is the Republican party.
This thread has provided some of the reasons for the GOP’s transformation into a nihilistic fact-free alternate universe.
- Foreign dirty money infiltrating the party;
- Big oligarchy reaching into its orifices with its fat fingers;
- A hopelessly cynical and lie-riddled rightwing media ecosystem
- A lazy electorate that believes empty platitudes and loves sociopathic orange-colored buffoons

@jammy doesn’t like the idea that people would have to present a picture I.D. to vote it seems. You know, stuff like proving you’re actually a U.S. citizen. I wonder how our resident Marxist / Maoist shill would feel about people buying guns without a picture I.D. and no background check. After all, bearing arms and voting are both rights secured by the Constitution. So if there are to be no restrictions on voting there should be no restrictions on who can buy and carry a gun. After all, voting is considerably more dangerous to our rights and Liberties than bearing arms. Perhaps that’s why @jammy’s ilk want to open the borders and along anyone (alive or dead) to vote. If I wouldn’t have to live through it too, I’d love to see Jammy get his wishes…good and hard!
