Russia Scandal -- Predictions about its impact on the future of the GOP in 2018

  • @jammy said in Russia Scandal -- Predictions about its impact on the future of the GOP in 2018:

Looks like someone earned his wifi privileges for good behavior.

Ha! No, I just let you prattle on with your typical Marxist propaganda because I had more important things to do rather than engage you. Not that that’s saying much… XD

  • Well, well, the Fulton County Board of Registration has retained the services of two of Georgia’s top, get this, criminal defense attorneys to try to stop the election audit. Now, if you don’t know anything about the legal system, this means that the Fulton County Board feels like they’ve been credibly accused of a crime!

If everything was on the up and up, they’d be more than happy to let this audit play out to its logical conclusion because they’d know that they are as pure as the driven snow. That there’s “no there there” and no way an outside audit would find anything shall we say “hinky”. But that’s not the case is it? Quite the contrary they are petrified that the truth will come out and some of them have reservations at Hotel Graybar.

The really cool thing about Marxists (Jammy’s ilk, his previous protestations to the contrary notwithstanding) is they can’t keep their mouth shut. In fact they brag when they do evil things, like rigging elections. You just have to be able to read their euphemistic language. Here it is from their own Marxist mouths: https://time.com/5936036/secret-2020-election-campaign/

  • So the Fulton County Board didn’t have control over the elections? Really? That’s their defense? Are you kidding me?

III. PETITONERS CLAIMS AGAINST FULTON COUNTY ARE BARRED BECAUSE FULTON COUNTY HAS NO CONTROL OVER ELECTIONS.

With respect to Fulton County, it is an improper party because it is not the final
policymaker with control over elections. The Elections Code states that where there is a board of
elections, that entity acts as a superintendent and conducts elections and primaries. O.C.G.A. §§
21-2-2(35); 21-2-70. Interpreting the Elections Code, courts have confirmed that a board
of elections is “vested with broad powers to manage the conduct of elections on behalf of the
state” and that the County has little management control. See Casey v. Clayton County, 2007 WL
    788943…

Well if Fulton County has no control over their own elections, who does? Oh…that’s right…Beijing does! XD

  • Here is former national security advisor Michael Flynn saying that he thinks a coup should happen in the US.

    https://twitter.com/MC_Hyperbole/status/1399129297240084489

    Unbelievable.
Calling for a coup like the one that occurred in Myanmar (he mispronounced it “Minamar”) is a sign of both insanity and treason.
His only audience are marginalized wackos with distorted cognitive processing.
I find it hard to understand how a three-star general rose through the intelligence ranks to become head of the DIA – and then turned into such a lunatic.

  • SENATE GOP BLOCKS AN INDEPENDENT PROBE OF THE JAN. 6 INSURRECTION

    https://apnews.com/article/michael-pence-donald-trump-capitol-siege-government-and-politics-4798a8617bacf27bbb576a4b805b85d9

It was supposed to be a bipartisan, independent commission.
    The House passed it 252-175.
The Senate could only get 54 votes – all the Dem senators plus 6 GOP senators – which was six short of being filibuster-proof. It’s a failed cloture vote.

I’m not surprised. Several Republican senators are of course complicit in encouraging the MAGA protestors to arrive at the Capitol on the day of the election certification.
They wouldn’t want an investigation of their own role in this uprising.
    So they voted against it.

The problem is, five people died. People on both sides.
For that reason alone, we should find out who organized this insurrection, who inflamed it, who marched in it, and who funded it.
Treat it like a murder investigation.
Imagine if the same insurrection had happened against your company, and five people had died. Then, a few months later, the board of directors voted to ignore finding out why they themselves had been attacked.
It’s unjust, especially for the families of the dead.

  • SPOOK STUFF IN PRAGUE

If you’re interested in Russian spies in the Czech Republic:

    https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-czech-diplomats-expelled-spying/31281006.html

Recall that disbarred and imprisoned Trump lawyer Michael Cohen has been linked to a mysterious, off-the-books trip to Prague in 2016, prior to his boss’ election.

  • "IF YOU UNCHECK THIS BOX…

…I’ll be forced to tell them that you’ve deserted Trump for socialism."

    https://twitter.com/AndrewSolender/status/1399439185249976320/photo/1

I don’t work in politics, but maybe I should. There’s a shitload of money to be made in this radical-right God-n-country grift. A lotta rural whites without college education out there.

  • 100 EXPERTS: OUR DEMOCRACY IS IN DANGER

It’s a written statement, signed by one hundred scholars who specialize in democratic breakdown. People such as Pippa Norris, Daniel Ziblatt, and Steven Levitsky. Other well-known names include Francis Fukuyama and Jacob Hacker.

In other words, they know more than you and me. We should listen to them. Read:

    https://www.newamerica.org/political-reform/statements/statement-of-concern/

“The playbook that the Republican Party is executing at the state and national levels is very much consistent with actions taken by illiberal, anti-democratic, anti-pluralist parties in other democracies that have slipped away from free and fair elections,” said Lee Drutman, senior fellow at New America and a leading organizer of the letter.

  • Stuart Spence was a key figure who helped elect Reagan in 1980. He was what you would call a “GOP macher”.
He says he voted for Joe Biden in November.

    https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-06-03/reagan-strategist-stu-spencer-trump-damage-republican-party

Spence also says this was the first Democrat he supported since Truman.
He adds that Reagan “would be sick” about Trump and today’s GOP.

  • SPIRALS IN THE EYES

Someone explain to me why the GOP has been taken over by an orange-headed walking trash fire of a human who cost his party the White House, the House, and the Senate.
Why are Republican politicians still in lockstep behind him?
    Oh, wait. I know why.

It’s because a sizable portion of the GOP voters – 70 million – have become a part of a cult of personality.
Those people have close-to-zero shits given about his actual accomplishments (which are also close-to-zero).
They only care about belonging to the right group.
    This is called identity politics.

The fact that the cult leader cost his party the White House, the House, and the Senate – for the first time since 1932 – doesn’t matter.
    This is cultural, not political.
They’ll follow the douchebag anywhere. After all, he’s their douchebag. He hates the right people.

  • But we must remember that the “Trump Political Party” will fail the same that
    Trump Airlines
    Trump Water
    Trump Taj Mahal
    Trump University
    Trump Steaks
    and
    Trump Vodka
    did.

  • A VERY HIGH MINDED POLITICAL ANALYSIS…

If you’re in the mood for some abstract historicalizin’, this guy over at The Atlantic has tried to identify how the US has cracked up into FOUR segments:

    https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2021/07/george-packer-four-americas/619012/

It’s fairly interesting, but kinda long, and most of it concerns trends that I’d already known about.

  • A GOP MEMBER OF CONGRESS

…just suggested that the federal Bureau of Land Management look into changing the earth’s orbit around the sun in order to help stop climate change.

His name is Louie Gohmert (R - TX), and he’s a fucking moron.

    https://twitter.com/MollyJongFast/status/1402581784555044864
    (video: 1 minute)

Better idea: Why doesn’t everybody inject bleach into their veins simultaneously? That could just as easily change the earth’s orbit around the sun.

  • ANY QUESTIONS?

    I’m dying.

    https://twitter.com/Angry_Staffer/status/1402838280844898304
    (video: 1 minute)

Trump won 17 of the 18 states with the lowest adult vaccination rates.
Let’s take a guess which oval she filled out behind the curtain on Nov. 6.

  • MITCH MCCONNELL: ENEMY OF AMERICAN SYSTEM

The Turtle will NOT fill an empty Supreme Court seat if he’s majority leader.
Even if he has to wait two years with the seat open.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/558268-mcconnell-signals-gop-would-block-biden-supreme-court-pick-in-24

He suffered little serious criticism and no electoral blowback from Garland, so of course he will do it again.
The law should be codified on this point. Then there will be no more questions.

Meanwhile, I predict that a Republican-controlled Senate will never again confirm a Democratic president’s Supreme Court nominee.
It’s just not going to happen.

  • I’M HEARING SOMETHING

A grand jury has been listening to evidence about the tax crimes of Alan Weisselberg, the former CFO of Trump Org.
Prosecutors are trying to flip him to get his cooperation with an even broader investigation into Trump and Trump Org.
Well, tonight I’m hearing that Weisselberg just flipped, and is ironing out a deal with the prosecutors.
    Bye Donnie!
    Bye Donnie Jr!
    Bye Eric!
    Bye Ivanka!
    Bye Jared!

First US president to be imprisoned? First to flee the country?
    Maybe!

In even happier news, I’ve rediscovered my Trump impression.
It had lain dormant for four years, when it didn’t seem funny to mock him, since people were suffering under his so-called administration.
Now that he’s out, I’ve gotten my groove back. I would post a video here but that would blow my identity, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.
    lol

  • FLORIDA GOP CANDIDATE THREATENS TO HIRE RUSSIAN MAFIA TO KILL OPPONENT

At this point, nothing should surprise you about the GOP.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/17/secret-recording-florida-republican-threat-hit-squad-494976

Why would this man believe that he COULD hire a Russian hit squad?
Maybe because of his political connections in Florida, this doesn’t seem so far-fetched.

Furthermore: In the recording, Braddock early in the call brought up the alleged assassins. He also made rambling statements about getting financial help from fellow Freemasons or by somehow importing millions of dollars from Malta and Gibraltar.

    Dirty transnational criminal network money.

  • HOW REPUBLICANS LOST OAKLAND COUNTY

There are a lot of middle-class counties in America that used to vote reliably Republican.
The party, on its current death march towards right-wing authoritarianism, has lost several of those strongholds.
Here’s a case study: Oakland County, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

    https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/06/18/biden-republican-voters-oakland-county-michigan-suburbs-494983

  • LISTEN TO ZE GERMAN

A German professor of 20th-century German history – currently visiting at Georgetown University – writes:

I was told by a colleague recently that my “only shtick” was bringing up the anti-democratic radicalization of the Republican Party over and over again. To which I’d like to reply: Yes! Because the alternative is as inadequate analytically as it is disastrous politically.

    https://twitter.com/tzimmer_history/status/1406677966642421760

Repeat: This is a German professor of German 20th-century history. I’d say that if he’s ringing a bell, we should pay attention.
He knows a thing or two about how nations descend into authoritarianism.

  • GOP: THE AMERICAN HEZBOLLAH

That’s according to a Tufts University scholar.
Hezbollah is the radical right Shia Islamist party of Lebanon. It has been designated a terrorist organization by the European Union and many other governments.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

The prof’s explanation: Both are political parties that own an armed violent wing whose purpose is to coerce other political actors into standing with them.

    https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-06-20/some-republicans-now-see-violence-as-a-necessary-means-to-an-end

From the piece: “The comparison is stronger now than before,” Drezner told me last week. “The Republicans who wanted to impeach Trump have been marginalized, and the state parties sound more and more secessionist with each passing day.”
