Global warming

His children are probably already laughing at him.
If not, his grandchildren certainly will be.

Nope. My sons are laughing at you and your ilk. You obviously have no grasp of the the first two laws of thermodynamics. You won’t even accept the IPCC’s original truth in advertising that climate is complex and chaotic, therefore unpredictable. You think Greta Thunberg is some kind of oracle when she makes the ridiculous claim that she can actually see carbon dioxide in the air!

No, you’re an affluent white boy who feels guilty about his wealth and more particularly his jet borne jaunts to Europe and other places. So the answer to assuage your guilty conscience is to restrict everyone else’s freedom. You may have a college degree, but that doesn’t prove you’re intelligent. Even when I have attempted to explain it to you in the simplest terms, like the graphic above does, you don’t get it, because you don’t want to. Carbon dioxide going from 3 molecules per 10,000 molecules of air to 4 molecules per 10,000 is not the culprit. Even it were, how’s a “carbon tax” going to solve that? It won’t. China and India are going to keep right on emitting CO2 in increasing quantities. Here in the United States we have already reduced our CO2 output.

You and your ilk like to talk a lot of shit, but you’re not out actually doing something positive like planting trees. New tree growth actually sequesters CO2, but you obviously have no comprehension of that. So just go right ahead and attempt your Saul Alinsky tactics. They won’t work on me. But it is highly entertaining watching you try.

Breaking news: Old white male denies the existence of the old white male effect.
    Completely unsurprising.

Just more ad hominem from a younger white male who’s ashamed of his degree, ashamed of his career and is afraid of everything from his fellow countrymen being armed to a trace gas that plants rely on for their very existence. This is someone who is afraid of Liberty itself and especially those of us who hold it dear. Watch these people carefully. Not only do they lie, but they intend to use whatever means necessary to fundamentally transform this nation. That means turn it into a dictatorship formed under their Marxist brand of mob rule. Jammy’s right about one thing, I won’t have to put up with this world much longer. I’ll be gone, so it won’t matter to me at that point. But for those of you who will be here, once you’ve lost what’s left of your freedom, you’ll play hell getting it back. Guard it jealously.

One key front they’re attacking your Liberty on is carbon dioxide. You’ll notice that the usual suspects aren’t attacking China or India, the two biggest CO2 emitters and their emissions continue to increase (along with real air and water pollution typical of developing nations). And you’ll also notice that @jammyjaybird tries to deflect from the facts that those are the two largest CO2 emitters (not that I see that as a problem mind you) and that the United States leads the way in reducing CO2 emissions by attacking old white men. No matter what you do, no matter what you give up for these people, it will never be enough. It’s long past time to fight back against this insanity, especially when it’s coming from unhinged Marxists who want to control every aspect of your lives, because they think they’re so smart. Yet they don’t have the mental capacity to understand that although CO2 does absorb IR, it reradiates it immediately at a net energy loss with the majority of that energy going back into space! It’s either that or they are knowingly and intentionally promoting lies under the guise of science to control your life. You decide.

  • When your data and your science are correct you don’t have to adjust long standing temperature records to make them match your lies…er…computer models. Here it is, again: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/globalwarming/11395516/The-fiddling-with-temperature-data-is-the-biggest-science-scandal-ever.html

  • WORSE THAN PREDICTED

A report out today in Nature finds that

    1. we’ve been underestimating the effects of climate-change-related flooding
    2. major cities across the globe will be inundated and essentially unlivable by 2050.

Well I guess that will take care of the over population problem that you Leftists have been whining about since…well as long as I can remember. The influx from the flooded cities will lead to large scale war. The ensuing massive death rate will lead to disease. That coupled with famine will lead to a mass Homo Sapiens extinction event. Problem solved! What are you people whining about? XD

  • The U.S. is now officially withdrawing from the Paris climate accord. It was nothing more than an international wealth redistribution scheme that hamstrung our economy while giving China, India and other “developing nations” a pass. I don’t agree with him on various issues, but I’m glad that Orange Man Bad can see this was just one more economic attack against us and is taking steps to put a stop to it. I’m sure we’ll hear the usual wailing, moaning and gnashing of teeth from the Left: “The fact that the Paris deal hamstrings the United States while empowering some of the world’s top-polluting countries should dispel any doubt as to why foreign lobbyists wish to keep our magnificent country tied up and bound by this agreement,” Trump argued.

I have friends who work in renewables here in the U.S.
Two years ago, when this retreat was announced, I asked them their thoughts.
They just shrugged their shoulders. “Our company is growing with or without the U.S. federal government,” one engineer said.
“It doesn’t really matter too much for our plans,” said another.
The Paris agreement is largely symbolic.
Plus, U.S. state and local municipalities are continuing to make changes towards a more renewable future.
The idiotic whims of the narcissistic man-child sitting atop the executive branch of the federal govt is irrelevant.

  • @jammyjaybird You’re quite right. The major utilities have embraced renewables. We’re going to get them whether we want them or not. And whether they have a cost effective means of storage or not. That will ultimately mean California style pricing and reliability.

As Germany discovered, you frequently won’t have availability when you have demand. Then you’ll have excess generation during low load conditions which drives you into negative pricing (i.e. you have to pay neighboring countries / states to take your excess generation, no joke).

If you haven’t already done so, you should be looking at an off-grid back up system for your home. It’s a good thing to have just for ice storms, hurricanes, etc. I’ve been without power for as long as nine days. But with a California style electrical infrastructure, as we have to deal with solar cycle 24 and 25, we may see longer periods of “grid down” conditions.

P.S. I spent over 5 years in “renewables” or alternative energy if you prefer. It should be called “unreliables”. And the reason we aren’t already seeing negative pricing is because of the tax subsidies. When those go away and wind generation starts costing the power companies money the windmills will get shut off post haste. By the way, you still have to have fossil, hydro and nuclear base load generation available, so you end up paying for both conventional and “renewable” energy. The big utilities don’t care because they’re legal monopolies that can charge whatever they need to. We pick up the tab.

  • Meanwhile, back on the Left coast…

  • Here’s the real deal when it comes to Gore-bull warming or Climate Change or whatever it is the eco-Marxists want to call it this week: https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/globalists-openly-admit-population-control-agenda-and-thats-bad-sign

  • I’ve taken a break here to spend some time on Twitter engaging the Climatist Cult in an effort to better understand these people. I can assure you that @jammyjaybird is typical of their group-think in every regard. I’m even more convinced that this is a religious cult. Before it was over they were blocking me, threatening to have me removed from Twitter and were just generally vile, nasty and arrogant. When I tried to find common ground with their ring leader he “had hope” for me. In other words, I looked like a potential recruit into his cult. It was almost comical. The bottom line: they want “carbon taxes” worldwide, which will of course affect first world nations disproportionately to developing nations. It’s a wealth redistribution scheme masquerading as environmentalism. It is eco-Marxism, nothing more.

But you don’t have to wait for government to take your money over your “carbon footprint”. Internet entrepreneurs have provided a (cough) “free market” solution. It seems some companies have appeared that will gladly take your money to help assuage the guilt you feel for flying, driving or merely exhaling 40,000 PPM of CO2 in every breath. Of course donating won’t really do anything to reduce your carbon footprint. But like giving that drunk with the cardboard “Will work for food” sign a few bucks, you can lighten you wallet and smugly feel better about yourself while the recipient laughs at you all the way to the bank. So if you want to help the current crop of AlGore wannabes buy their mansions and private jets, here you go: https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/04/you-know-carbon-credits-dont-actually-offset-your-carbon-footprint/

  • For those who are still convinced that carbon dioxide is a “pollutant” rather than a critical component for photosynthesis, consider this: We’ve had the answer for safe, clean, efficient and carbon dioxide free power generation for a long time. Would you care to guess why we haven’t developed it and aren’t using it? War! More specifically the production of Plutonium for nuclear weapons.

  • Oklo has obtained a permit to build a compact fast reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory. This design requires no water, the fuel life is 20 years and the footprint is only one quarter acre: https://morningconsult.com/2019/12/10/advanced-reactor-developer-oklo-receives-site-use-permit-from-energy-department/

The irony is that this reactor design uses CO2 for it’s coolant.

  • THE GUARDIAN BLOCKS ALL OIL AND GAS ADVERTISING

The Guardian, one of the UK’s biggest newspapers, has announced that it will stop accepting advertising from fossil fuel firms.

    https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/jan/29/guardian-to-ban-advertising-from-fossil-fuel-firms-climate-crisis?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

This will free them to do more unbiased reporting on the climate change crisis, and the role of fossil fuel extraction in that crisis.

Good! This means one more step toward irrelevance and ultimately bankruptcy for The Guardian. Adios & good riddance!

  • BELIEF IN SOCIAL DISTANCING CORRELATES WITH BELIEF IN CLIMATE CHANGE

Vox points out a fascinating little bit of correlation.

One of the strongest and most robust predictors of social distancing behavior is found in attitudes toward another major challenge facing the United States: climate change. Places where residents are less likely to agree that global warming is happening, that humans are the cause, and that we have an obligation to do something about it are the places where residents haven’t changed their behavior in response to coronavirus.

    https://www.vox.com/2020/4/10/21216216/coronavirus-social-distancing-texas-unacast-climate-change

Geez, it’s almost like psychologists have identified, oh, I don’t know … let’s call them … clusters of behaviors that usually come bundled together.
Call this one the antisocial cluster.
