2nd Amendment Discussion

  • Meanwhile the mayor of Houston tells the criminals to “chill” and just “stay home” until the Coronavirus is over: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/04/01/houston-mayor-asks-criminals-to-defer-pillaging-and-chill-until-after-coronavirus-ends/ Well hell yeah! That oughta work. Just like gun free crime zone signs work.

I suspect this is part of the reason Jammy’s own are out buying guns in record numbers. I mean it sounds all empathetic and compassionate to empty the jails and prisons so the poor oppressed victims of white privilege won’t contract the Coronavirus (or at least not while they’re in jail). But even a dyed in the wool leftist realizes that these poor disenfranchised “victims” won’t have much if anything to steal in the ghetto. So when times get real tight, they will be headed to your suburban housing development or gated community to go shopping. Even a college educated Libtard can figure out what happens next. So they’re buying guns.

It would have been a lot smarter if they had bought guns and become proficient with their use and safety (like some of us have been trying to tell them) months (if not years) ago. But better late than never. Now noobs, please try not to shoot yourself or someone else you didn’t intend to. Always, always, always keep the muzzle (that’s the pew-pew end) in a safe direction unless you intend to shoot something or someone. Always assume a gun is loaded and treat it as such, even when you know it’s empty. There have been plenty of people wounded and killed by people with “unloaded” guns.

If you have small children, yes, keep your firearms out of their reach. But by all means teach them gun safety. You may make a mistake (especially if you’re stressed out over any number of bad things that are happening right now) and leave your gun where a child can find it. This applies to first time gun owners, but even more so to us old hands (familiarity breeds contempt). If your children know that if they find a gun they’re to leave it alone, run away and tell an adult, it may well avert disaster. We (the NRA) have been teaching and preaching gun safety for a long time. If you have children I implore you to go here and check this out and teach your children to be safe: https://eddieeagle.nra.org/

Folks, we are a gun culture. It’s in our national DNA. That’s not likely to change in the foreseeable future. So let’s do everything we can to navigate these waters safely.

March 2020 was the first March without a school shooting in the United States in eighteen years.

It follows the murder of 22 people in the worst mass shooting in the country’s history. The murderer’s name was Gabriel Wortman.

“These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada,” said the prime minister. “Effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country.”

    I agree.

The new ban would probably not have stopped Wortman from obtaining his weapons: he did not have a license to possess or purchase firearms, and police have said they believe the guns were obtained illegally in Canada and the United States.

It’s a circular argument. Mass murders with assault weapons leads to an assault weapons ban, but an assault weapons ban will not actually prevent mass murders with assault weapons.

    Anybody got the answer?

You make a good point. As Australia found out, the gun ban raised the value of banned weapons to the point that it is a lucrative business either importing these weapons or manufacturing them domestically. The compliance rate even for the (formerly) law abiding was estimated at only 20%, so most folks kept their guns. The unintended consequences are, since virtually all repeaters including pump shotguns are illegal, there’s no difference in penalty for making or possessing a machine gun. Would you care to guess what a lot of their “bikie” gangs (biker gangs here in the states) are now procuring? If you guessed machine guns, you’d be correct. And there is a thriving and violent black market Down Under now: https://reason.com/2016/03/22/australias-gun-buyback-created-a-violent/

I had a meeting with Senator Saslaw in Virginia back in the 90s to lobby against gun control. He first explained how it was impossible to keep drugs out of the country. That we had a balloon mounted camera up off the coast of Florida and every day the authorities watched boats carrying drugs entering our territorial waters. That for every boat stopped and seized many more made it through. He went on that gun violence was hand in glove with the illicit drug trade, so we needed to ban guns. I logically pointed out, based on what he’d just said, that if you prohibit guns, those same boats will now have a half a cargo bay of dope and the other half will be full of illicit guns. He got mad. The truth is often unpopular. He told me, if I liked guns I’d better buy them “now” because “they” were coming after them! Which is what they have done in Virginia.

Now, it’s true that the Australians haven’t had much of a mass shooting problem. But it was a relatively peaceful country to begin with. The Port Arthur shooting was a statistical anomaly used to justify civilian disarmament. But violent crime (unsurprisingly) rose after the law abiding were disarmed. We saw the same thing after Morton Grove, Illinois imposed their gun ban. The most violent cities here in the United States have the most stringent gun control laws. It’s no coincidence. New Zealand also had a highly emotional, but statistically insignificant, mass shooting. They took the same approach as Australia: Confiscate private property. Here again the compliance rate has been low. But what about violent crime? It’s has gone up, including gun crime: https://patriotpost.us/articles/70950-surprise-new-zealand-gun-confiscation-results-in-more-gun-crime-2020-05-28

    Anybody got the answer?

Yes. But you won’t like it. As an individual you have to take responsibility for your own safety and for the safety of others around you. As we saw in the Paris attacks, gun and explosives prohibition laws do nothing to stop the truly determined. The French had gone so far as to disarm their rank and file police officers who were summarily executed by the terrorists. The only way to stop a homicidal maniac with a gun is with another gun. If you are armed and trained, you may well be able to stop a violent crime as it happens. The police generally cannot. They won’t be there when it happens. Learn safe gun handling practices, buy a gun, get some training, carry it with you wherever you legally can. Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. There’s your answer.

  • Here in the United States we are a gun culture. The very foundation of this Constitutional Republic was laid with firearms. General Washington did not sweet talk the British military into leaving. There was no negotiating a peaceful route to independence with the Crown. No, General Washington had his men shoot British soldiers (and officers) until the conflict became too costly and they were forced to withdraw.

Most Americans instinctively know that it’s far better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it. In the wake of violent convicted felon, bouncer and porn actor “Floyd the Landlord” being ritually executed on video, the police are being pulled back. Many officers are resigning or retiring. There is a push from many Communist politicians to defund and disband police departments across this nation.

Many people are waking up to the fact that we are responsible for our own safety. That you may well call 911 as your home is being invaded and get a social worker instead of a rough man with a gun. The only thing you can do to even the odds is arm yourself. I am pleased to report that Americans are now doing so in droves. When BLM, Anti-Fa and Jammy’s other Communist fellow travelers have nothing left to burn in the cities, they have already warned us that they will head out into the suburbs and farm country.

It would seem that a lot of folks have been paying attention to current events: https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisdorsey/2020/06/24/gun-sales-skyrocket-amid-pandemic-and-unrest-fears/#623b25b32421

  • It is time to resurrect the 2A discussion, now that the Chinese Communist in the White House has opened the floodgates for the teeming masses of military aged male criminal foreign invaders at our borders. No one is coming to save us. We will have to fend for ourselves. If you do not currently own a modern sporting rifle with plenty of magazines and ammunition for it, I suggest you procure one. Then learn how to use it. It may well mean the difference between your life and death. Mr. Bolsonaro down in Brazil “gets it”:
